THE PEOPLE

Zambia is known for its friendly people and has the reputatien for being one of the safest countries in Africa. The County's population was estimated to be 13,100,000 by October 2010. Of the Total 49 percent are made whilst 51 percent are female.

There are 11 bantu Languages comprising Bemba (30.1 percent) , Nyanja (10.7 percent), Tonga (10.06 percent) , Lozi (5.7 Percent) and Chewa, Nsenga,Tumbuka,Lunda,Kaonde , Luvale and Lala. About 99.5 percent of the country's inhabitants are African while 0.5 percent comprise those of Asian and European origin. Between half and three quarters of Zambians are Christian, while 24 to 49 percent of the population are Muslims and Hindus.

Indigenous beliefs account for about 1 percent.

Welcome

History: 

The Zambia Embassy in Cairo is one of the first missions which were opened soon after Zambia attained her Independence on 24th October 1964. The mission was inaugurated in 1965 with His Excellency Mr. Rupiah Bwezani Banda being its first Ambassador who became later the Fourth President of the Republic of Zambia in 2008 until after the change of government in September 2011.
